Matching Network
— A circuit that transforms impedance from one value to another to maximize power transfer between source and load.
Microstrip
— A planar transmission line consisting of a conductor strip on a dielectric substrate with a ground plane on the opposite side.
Mixer
— A nonlinear device that combines two input frequencies to produce output signals at the sum and difference frequencies.
MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit)
— An integrated circuit fabricated on a semiconductor substrate that performs microwave frequency functions like amplification, mixing, or switching.
Mode
— A specific pattern of electromagnetic field distribution that can propagate in a waveguide or resonate in a cavity.
Modulation
— The process of encoding information onto a carrier wave by varying its amplitude, frequency, phase, or a combination thereof.
Multiplexer (MUX)
— A device that combines multiple signal channels onto a single transmission path, typically using frequency division.
Mutual Coupling
— The electromagnetic interaction between adjacent antenna elements or transmission lines that affects impedance and radiation pattern.
