Near Field
— The region close to an antenna where the electromagnetic fields do not have a simple relationship between electric and magnetic components.
Noise Factor (F)
— The ratio of the signal-to-noise ratio at the input to the signal-to-noise ratio at the output of a device. Noise Figure (NF) = 10 log10(F).
Noise Figure (NF)
— The degradation in signal-to-noise ratio caused by a component or system, expressed in dB. Lower noise figure indicates better sensitivity.
Noise Floor
— The minimum detectable signal level in a receiver, set by thermal noise, device noise, and measurement bandwidth.
Noise Temperature
— A way of expressing noise power in terms of an equivalent temperature. T = (F-1) x 290K, where F is noise factor.
Notch Filter (Band Reject Filter)
— A filter that attenuates a narrow band of frequencies while passing all others, used to suppress specific interference.
NF (Noise Figure)
— See Noise Figure. Measured in dB, it is the key parameter for evaluating receiver front-end performance.
