L-Band
— The frequency range from 1 to 2 GHz, used in GPS, mobile satellite, and telemetry systems.
LNA (Low Noise Amplifier)
— An amplifier designed to add minimal noise to the received signal, placed at the front end of a receiver chain to preserve system sensitivity.
LNB (Low Noise Block)
— A combined low-noise amplifier and block downconverter mounted at the focal point of a satellite dish antenna.
LO (Local Oscillator)
— An oscillator used in superheterodyne receivers and transmitters to generate the signal that drives the mixer for frequency conversion.
Load Pull
— A measurement technique where the impedance presented to a device under test is systematically varied to characterize performance under different load conditions.
Loss Tangent (tan delta)
— The ratio of the imaginary to real part of a dielectric's complex permittivity, characterizing the material's RF energy dissipation.
Lowpass Filter (LPF)
— A filter that passes frequencies below a specified cutoff frequency while attenuating higher frequencies.
