H-Plane
— The plane containing the magnetic field vector and the direction of maximum radiation in a waveguide or antenna.
Half-Power Beamwidth (HPBW)
— The angular width of the main lobe of an antenna pattern measured between the -3 dB points where power is half the peak value.
Harmonic
— A signal at an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency, generated by nonlinear behavior in amplifiers, mixers, and oscillators.
Heterodyne
— A frequency conversion technique that mixes two signals to produce sum and difference frequencies.
Highpass Filter (HPF)
— A filter that passes frequencies above a specified cutoff frequency while attenuating lower frequencies.
Horn Antenna
— An antenna formed by gradually flaring the open end of a waveguide to provide a smooth impedance transition to free space.
Hybrid Coupler
— A four-port device that divides an input signal into two equal outputs with a specific phase relationship, typically 90 or 180 degrees.
